As IPL 2023 is coming to a close, the matches are getting more exciting. Three days to the playoff week, and the final three among four are yet to be decided.
Another prime example was on Friday night as Rajasthan Royals beat Punjab on their home ground by four wickets. With that, they keep their playoff hopes alive.
Superb victory for Sanju Samson’s RR: defeat Punjab by four wickets
Winning the toss, Samson sent the hosts to bat first, who put up a decent total on the board of 187 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Curran, Jitesh Sharma, and Shahrukh Khan sparked their bats to help their team set a good target for the opponents.
However, coming to chase a target close to 190, the visitors were solid from the start. Thanks to Devdutt Padikkal’s 51 off 30 and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 36 balls 50 helped them get a good start. Things got a little nervous in between, but Shimron Heytmyer’s steady 46 off 28 helped clear the tension.
Will Rajasthan make it to the playoffs?
RR earned two important points defeating Punjab and staying in the playoff race. If they’ll make it to the top four is dependent on the last two games. KKR, RCB, and MI have their matches remaining, and the match results will have a lot to say.
Paddikal was awarded the player of the match, and RR will be happy to finish their last group match with a win. The weekend is going to be power-packed with significant games to be played.
