Royal Enfield’s New 750cc Engine: Himalayan, Interceptor, Continental GT

With the launch of the 650 Twins—Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650—Royal Enfield really changed the game when it came to the multi-cylinder motorcycle segment. They have redefined the term value for money (VFM) by setting the starting price with these bikes at a mindboggling ₹2.34 lakh (Ex-showroom).

Price-wise, the 650cc lineup starts at ₹3.02 lakh (Ex-showroom) today and remains the leader in VFM. Test mules have already been spotted on multiple occasions, so it makes sense that a new 750cc powertrain has been rumored to be in the works. Here’s what you should know about this new 750cc engine.

Royal Enfield’s Upcoming 750cc Motorcycles: Himalayan, Interceptor, Continental GT

Now, Royal Enfield‘s 650cc range of motorcycles was widely appreciated for how smooth and vibration-free the engine was, one of the strong points that the brand’s earlier offerings lacked. Even to this day, the 650cc models are considered very much refined. It is anticipated that the new 750cc mill with have a similar smooth, vibe-free character. Just like on the 650cc liquid-cooled offering, on the 750cc version, we can expect a parallel-twin engine, which is cheaper to manufacture in comparison to a V-twin engine.

The 750cc engine could be an upgraded version of the current 650cc unit, possibly with a larger bore or longer stroke to increase power and torque, or both. It might even include a larger throttle body. The new mill would also be expected to retain the relaxed, torque-rich character of the 650cc engine, but with a boost in general performance. More sophisticated features like ride-by-wire throttle could for smoother transition from throttle to throttle.

With increased performance will come greater demand for better braking. The 750cc models are also likely to feature dual disc brake setups at the front to manage this additional power, while we expect these bicycle discs to provide better stopping power than their 650cc counterparts. Spy shots of the Himalayan 750, Interceptor 750, and Continental GT 750 have shown dual disc front brakes on all models. Considering Royal Enfield’s lengthy research and development process, the 750cc lineup is expected to launch by late 2025 or possibly in 2026, targeting global markets with competitive pricing.
