Things are changing and the best proof is this video of Royal Enfield which shows that they also thinking of expanding by making its entry into electric space. The big one will be the Himalayan 650, of course, a part of their 650cc lineup. The new Himalayan 650 is currently undergoing testing and the first test mule of the bike has been spotted. It is claimed that this model is one of the biggest innovations from Royal Enfield and it has the potential to create a major impact globally.
The New Colors of Royal Enfield Himalayan 650
Artist Pratyush Rout has used the spy shots to imagine how the 650 will look digitally, ahead of its official release. Unlike its predecessors, the Himalayan 411 and the new Himalayan 450, the Himalayan 650 is designed more for touring than off-roading. Examples of these changes include the use of 19-inch front wheels instead of the current’s 21 inches and a semi-fairing around the fuel tank to bring improved aerodynamics as well as better wind protection over long distances.
As seen from the render, the new motorcycle comes in a touring-ready design with semi-fairing, smaller wheels up front, and larger side body panels for better strength. It also features a circular LED headlight and the Tripper Dash TFT screen with Google Maps, in line with Royal Enfield’s recent design language.
In terms of components, the Himalayan 650 is expected to be the most advanced 650cc model from Royal Enfield to date. It will feature USD telescopic front forks and a mono-shock rear suspension, which are new for this engine size. The bike will also have dual petal discs at the front, marking another first for the brand. The design closely follows the Himalayan 450’s platform, including similar mainframes and subframes, as well as luggage mounting points for added rider convenience. The exhaust setup is designed for improved water wading, resembling the 450’s unit but with an up-swept design.
The Himalayan 650 will be powered by a 648cc parallel-twin, oil-cooled engine delivering around 46 horsepower and 52 Nm of torque. There might be specific engine tuning to cater to the adventure touring genre. The official launch of this model is anticipated for next year.
