Despite missing out on both the ISL Winner’s Shield and the ISL 2020-21 trophy to Mumbai City FC, ATK Mohun Bagan superstar Roy Krishna deservingly picked up the ISL Hero of the Season award for his joint-highest 14 goals this season, and 8 assists throughout the campaign.
Krishna pick up the Golden Ball award for scoring the joint-highest number of goals this season, as well as the joint-highest number of assists with 8 to his name. And individually, his performances have been on a completely different level altogether. Had the player been younger than 33, there is a very good chance that he could have tried his luck in one of Europe’s top leagues and come off successful in the process.
However, he is without a shadow of a doubt ATK Mohun Bagan’s most prized asset, has been almost single-handedly responsible for getting the team points on more than one occasion.
Last season, Krishna managed to win the ISL trophy with ATK but missed out on the Golden Ball to Nerijus Valskis. He scored 15 goals last season and bags the Golden Ball this season with one less goal, but two more assists than previous year’s numbers.
The Golden Boot award was presented to FC Goa’s Igor Angulo, and Krishna missed out on the award by the slightest of margins once again. The ending of the season was a heartbreaking one for the Fijian, who has had one of the best individual seasons of his career but has no team trophies to go along with it.
