# Cristiano Ronaldo denies rumour of leaving the Portugal national team amidst World Cup 2022

[Cristiano Ronaldo](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cristiano_Ronaldo) was left on the bench against Switzerland in their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 quarter-final tie. He was replaced by Goncalo Ramos in the squad who scored the first hat-trick of this tournament as Portugal won the match 6-1.

There were many rumours claiming that Ronaldo is looking to leave the Portugal national team. However, he has now come forward to set things right. He has denied all rumours claiming his departure from the Portugal national team amidst World Cup 2022.

He earlier said: “If you tell me that Portugal wins the World Cup without my goals, I’ll sign that in a moment.”

The Portuguese FA said: “Reports claiming Cristiano Ronaldo threatened to leave the national team during a conversation with Fernando Santos are not true — FPF clarifies that at no time did Cristiano threaten to leave the national team in Qatar”.
