Brazil icon Ronaldinho’s son, Joao Mendes, will be signing for Barcelona in the near future. The move has been announced by the legend himself, and he has confirmed that it will lead to an increased involvement from his side in the club than before.

Ronaldinho spent five years with Barcelona, and is now a club ambassador. He became one of the fan favourites during his time at Camp Nou, as a feared winger and attacking midfielder with some of the best skills in the game.

‘Yes he is coming now,’ Ronaldinho told Spanish outlet Marca.

‘I’m never out of the club. Barcelona is part of life. Wherever I go I take Barcelona with me.

‘With the arrival of my son at Barca I’ll be more present than ever.’

While Ronaldinho was an attacking midfielder through the middle or wide, Joao Mendes is a natural striker. He also possesses similar footwork to that of his father, and previously featured for Cruzeiro.

The club is owned (90%) by Ronaldo, his father’s former teammate. However, his contract was terminated and he is now on his way to Europe, and will play for Barcelona’s world famous La Masia academy until he gets the signal to progress further.
