Barcelona sack Ronald Koeman after 1-0 loss to Vallecano

Barcelona ended their competitive season with a victory against Eibar in LaLiga, with Antoine Griezmann scoring the only goal of the game. Head coach Ronald Koeman has asked for a complete overhaul of the squad in preparation for the 21/22 campaign.

“When we arrived we took the template that was available,” Koeman said following the 1-0 win at Eibar on the final day. “[Sergino] Dest only came on the last day. For me this squad is not made to have the level that it demands and that we want for Barcelona.

As Madrid teams drop points, is this the Golden chance for Barcelona to win LaLiga?

“There are older players with all due respect. And there are young players who have to gain more experience to be better. The project is not done, in one season you can not do everything,”

However, despite his demands for a number of new signings, there is uncertainty about his future at the club. Here is what he had to say about the future:

“I think it’s not the last [game]. I have a contract and I don’t know what we will do. You talk a lot about this topic, but I am calm.

“If there is something that the club wants to change, it has to talk to me.”

AC Milan star Gigio Donnarumma is out of a contract at the end of the season, and there were rumours that he would be offered to Barcelona. However, the probability of that happening now is very low considering Milan have secured Champions League football and the captain is keen on staying on.

Sergio Aguero is set to join the club as a free agent, and talks are progressing with Memphis Depay as well. Eric Garcia will be accompanying Aguero from Manchester City, and there is also the chance that Gini Wijnaldum could reunite with his former Dutch national team manager at Camp Nou.
