Chelsea have reached an agreement with Southampton for Romeo Lavia, as well as Crystal Palace for Michael Olise. The two players have accepted a contract offer with the Blues and are expected to complete their respective transfers imminently.Â
Liverpool were targeting Lavia throughout the summer and were hopeful of reaching an agreement with Southampton. They had two offers worth £40 & 45 million rejected before making a £60 million offer to the club. But by that time, Lavia had agreed personal terms with Chelsea in spite of having a prior agreement with the Reds.
Now, Chelsea have a deal in place to sign the Belgian worth £50 million including add-ons. The transfer comes after their recent record deal for Moises Caicedo, which cost them £115 million including add-ons.Â
Romeo Lavia and Michael Olise to join Chelsea this weekÂ
Chelsea have activated the £35 million release clause in Michael Olise’s Crystal Palace contract. They have also reached an agreement with the player on personal terms and are expected to complete the signing very soon.
The skillful winger will be expected to play on the right side of the front three, and compete with Noni Madueke for game time.
Chelsea are building an ambitious young squad to stand firm for the next decade. And with their recent dealings, they have been ruthless and are not afraid to spend.
They are now expected to offload several players, with Hakim Ziyech, Romelu Lukaku and Callum Hudson-Odoi not expected to be a part of the squad. A deal to offload these players has not materialised yet, but should be in place by the end of the transfer window.
