Romelu Lukaku wins UEFA Europa League Player of the Season award

Romelu Lukaku was selected as the ‘UEFA Europa League Player of the Season’ for the 2019/20 season. He beat Bruno Fernandes and Ever Banega to top the list.

Romelu Lukaku joined Inter Milan from Manchester United. He was criticized for his poor performance in United jersey. In his 96 games for Manchester United in 2 seasons, he only scored 42 goals.

But he shuts his critics with his performance for his new club. He displayed an excellent last season for the Serie A side. He scored 34 goals in his 51 appearances last season.

Inter Milan started their Europa League journey from Round of 32 after coming 3rd in their group in the UEFA Champions League Group stage. He scored in his last two games of UCL last season as well. In UEL he scored 7 goals including 2 assists in his 6 appearances. He also made a record of scoring in 6 consecutive outings in European competition last season.

After winning the trophy Romelu Lukaku said, “First of all, I would like to congratulate Sevilla personally for having won the final tournament.”

“I want to thank my family and my agents for their support. I also want to thank my coach and the club staff, the board, and the president for their trust and for helping me throughout this season.”

“Most importantly, I want to thank my teammates, who have been great with me from the first day I joined. They’ve been like brothers to me. Every day I come to training, I come with a smile. they make me want to work harder.”- he added.

Inter is back again in the UCL this season and wants to make an impact in the competition. Romelu Lukaku will be one of the most important players for Inter in this matter.
