Despite not being able to join team India for the tour of Australia due to a hamstring injury during the IPL, Rohit Sharma created a special ODI record of being the highest individual run-scorer in the 50 overs format of this year, as none of the batsmen reached a three-digit individual run in the 3 match ODI series with Australia.
Hardik Pandya’s 92 runs in the third ODI against Australia is the highest in the tour in 50 overs. This means, Hitman’s 119 runs against Australia in Bengaluru, in January is still the highest ODI run by any individual.
In 2014, he transcended Virender Sehwag’s record of 219 to become the highest-scoring batsman in an ODI match, with his 264 against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Moreover, He is the first player in ODI history to have scored three double hundreds, including a world record individual score of 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014. Rohit Sharma also has so far played 224 ODI matches, where he scored 9112 runs with an average of 49.27 and a strike rate of 88.92. His highest score in ODI has been 264 runs, and he has got 29 centuries and 43 half-centuries to his name.
Hitman’s past ODI records –
- 2013 – 209
- 2014 – 264
