Rodrigo Bentancur to join Tottenham Hotspur for €25 million

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed to the signing of Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus. The London club will be paying €19 million upfront alongside €6 million available in add-ons.

He will be joining the Premier League club alongside Juventus teammate Dejan Kulusevski. Boca Juniors, Bentancur’s former club, will receive 30% of the fee as part of the sell-on clause they agreed with Juventus when he was signed.

The Uruguayan midfielder will be in London in the upcoming hours to sign the contract and make the move official. He becomes the second signing for Antonio Conte in the winter transfer window, after the arrival of Kulusevski from the same club. However, both deals are separate from one another.

He has been a regular for Juventus this season, making 19 Serie A appearances under Max Allegri. The player will be a valuable addition to the midfield that Antonio Conte is building at Spurs as well. Rodrigo Bentancur is an Uruguay international and has earned 46 caps for the national team, with his latest being against Paraguay in the World Cup qualifiers.

Juventus have also agreed on the signing of Denis Zakaria from Borussia Monchengladbach for a fee worth €5 million plus add-ons. The Swedish midfielder only had six months remaining on his contract with the Bundesliga side but signed for a fee while it was still available.

He will be the replacement for Rodrigo Bentancur in midfield, as Max Allegri turns to build a steady foundation for the team in his current spell.
