Rodrigo Bentancur has suffered a season-ending ACL injury which will see him out for the next few months at the very least. The midfielder is the latest in Spurs’ growing list of injuries, and becomes the latest blow for Antonio Conte’s side.

Club captain Hugo Lloris, Yves Bissouma and Ryan Sessegnon are currently out injured as well. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will also be unavailable for their Champions League Round of 16 clash against AC Milan, putting the team into a very difficult situation.

Rodrigo Bentancur ruled out for the rest of the season

“We can confirm that Rodrigo Bentancur has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will be out of action for the remainder of the campaign. He will undergo surgery before beginning his rehabilitation with our medical staff. We’re all behind you, Rodrigo,” Tottenham wrote on their official Twitter account.

The Uruguayan has enjoyed a significant return in form since making the move from Juventus. He has been a regular under Antonio Conte, and scored the opening goal in their recent game against Leicester City.

However, the match ended in a 4-1 defeat for the London club. And to add insult to injury, Bentancur was forced off the pitch in the 65th minute. He will now begin a lengthy spell on the sidelines and will be expected back potentially around the start of the new season.
