# Roblox Kids and Roblox Select are here — and parents finally have the control they’ve been asking for

The company has announced two brand-new age-based accounts, **Roblox Kids** (ages 5–8) and **Roblox Select** (ages 9–15), rolling out in early June 2026. Account progression is automatic — no parent action needed when a child ages up. Users who skip the age check entirely will be locked to Minimal/Mild games with all communication disabled until they complete one.

## **How Roblox decides which games make the cut?**

Not every game on the platform will be available to under-16 accounts. Roblox is applying a continuous three-step evaluation process to dynamically select eligible titles:

1. **Developer verification** — Creators must complete ID verification, enable two-step login, and hold an active Roblox Plus subscription.
2. **Real-time evaluation** — Roblox monitors how users aged 16+ interact with new games and tracks user reports before opening access to younger audiences.
3. **Content maturity rating** — Each game gets a Minimal, Mild, or Moderate label. Games featuring sensitive issues, social hangouts, or free-form drawing are excluded by default from under-16 accounts.

Later in 2026, Roblox will also integrate the [International Age Rating Coalition (IARC) framework](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Age_Rating_Coalition) — the globally recognized standard used by ESRB (US) and PEGI (Europe/UK) — to bring region-specific content ratings to the platform.
