Robinho was once considered as one of the best during his playing days. He had a successful career. Robinho joined Real Madrid in 2005 and became a world-class footballer.

He left Real Madrid in 2008. He almost joined Chelsea but the move failed in the last moment and he joined Manchester City.

Robinho has now spoken of his playing days. He told about leaving Real Madrid: “I don’t regret leaving Madrid, but I am sorry that it ended so badly. Madrid were the club that opened their doors and gave me the chance to succeed in Europe.”

“Perhaps the way that I fought to leave harmed the memories of the good things I did for the team. I helped make them champions and played well, but I had made up my mind to leave – I have an explosive character.”

Robinho then wanted to join Chelsea. He said: “My goal was to go to Chelsea. (Luiz Felipe) Scolari told me I would make a difference in his team.”

“But negotiations failed because Real Madrid ended badly with them. They didn’t like Chelsea selling shirts with my name on it before the deal was done.”

Robinho instead joined Manchester City in 2008. He told about joining City: “I spoke a couple of times with the owner, Sheik Mansour. He said he was going to do a great job signing Kaka and Lionel Messi.”

“I was champion in all the teams I played in except for City. If I regret anything it is not having given City a title, it is the only thing that makes me a little sad.”

Robinho now plays for Istanbul Basaksehir. He joined the club in 2019.
