## What the Creators Say

The news isn’t all doom and gloom. Co-creator John Glenn shared encouraging updates, revealing the team is already developing ideas for a potential second season. Lead star **Jack Patten** (Robert of Locksley) expressed enthusiasm about returning, while **Lauren McQueen** (Marian) noted the finale ends “quite interestingly” for every character, leaving room for expansion.

## Performance Indicators

The series topped MGM+ charts in both the US and UK, demonstrating strong viewer retention according to FlixPatrol data. This historical drama starring Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham has garnered positive critical reception, which bodes well for renewal prospects.

However, fans should note MGM+’s track record. The network recently cancelled *The Winter King* after one season despite strong storytelling potential, raising concerns about Robin Hood’s fate.

## Expected Timeline

If renewed within the next few months, production timelines suggest new episodes could arrive as early as late 2026, though a later renewal might push this to 2027. Period dramas require extensive prep time for locations, costumes, and set construction.

## What’s Next for Sherwood Forest?

The first season masterfully blended historical authenticity with rebellion drama, featuring Eleanor of Aquitaine (Connie Nielsen) and exploring post-Norman conquest England. A second season could delve deeper into political intrigue, character backstories like Priscilla’s convent life, and expand the romance between Rob and Marian.

All 10 episodes are currently streaming on MGM+ for those wanting to revisit the adventure or catch up before any potential announcement.
