Real Madrid are considering Roberto Firmino as one of the options to bolster their forward line this summer. The Brazilian is leaving Liverpool as a free agent when his contract expires at the end of next month.
He hasn’t committed to any project as of yet, and is considering all options before making a final decision. And the opportunity to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world will no doubt be appealing to the veteran forward.
Playing time has been limited for the forward this summer, due to his injuries and especially after the arrival of Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo. As a result, he has decided to move on and take up a new challenge.
Roberto Firmino an option for Real Madrid this summer
Los Blancos have been without Karim Benzema for significant parts of the season due to injuries. The 35-year-old has scored 18 goals in 23 La Liga games this season, and his absence has been noticeable.
When he hasn’t been on the pitch, Madrid look like a completely different side and struggle to perform offensively. Given that Roberto Firmino has made a name for himself with his unique link-up play, he could play a similar role to Benzema. This would allow the Frenchman to be rested, and rotated given his age.
As a result, it remains to be seen whether Madrid go all-in for Firmino, given that he will be available for no transfer fee at all.
