Brighton have confirmed that manager Roberto De Zerbi will be leaving the club at the end of the season, amidst a lot of speculation over his future. The Italian coach has mutually agreed his departure, and will take up a new challenge next season.

De Zerbi’s final game in charge of Brighton will be against Manchester United, one of the clubs he has been linked with. It is a must win fixture for United if they are to secure European football for next season, but the 44-year-old will be keen to end his tenure with a win as well.

Brighton confirm Roberto De Zerbi will leave at the end of the season

The former Shakhtar and Sassuolo manager has been linked with Bayern, as the German side has been searching for a new head coach for months. He is the first choice for Max Eberl, Bayern’s sporting director, and can now make the move to Germany provided the conditions a deal is agreed upon.

Roberto De Zerbi helped Brighton transition extremely well after the sudden departure of Graham Potter in 2022. Under him, the Seagulls secured qualification to the Europa League for the first time and established themselves as an exciting team, capable of challenging for the top six.

Following the big-money sales of Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo, the team has been unable to perform as well this season. If they defeat United, they will still finish 10th, but could drop down because of results elsewhere.
