Roberto Carlos is considered as one of the best left-backs of the game. He had his most successful years at the Bernabeu. He spent 11 seasons at Real Madrid.
Carlos won three Champions Leagues and four La Liga titles during his time at the Bernabeu. He also had significant success with the Brazilian national team. He won the 2002 World Cup and two Copa America trophies.
The Real Madrid legend wanted his countryman Neymar to join Real Madrid in a bid to become the best player in the world.
Roberto Carlos told Fox Sports Radio: “If it were up to me, [Neymar] would already be here a long time ago, but life is not how one would like it.”
“These great players always have to play for the best clubs in the world. Real Madrid today is a reference for any player.”
“Do you want to win the Champions League? Come to Real Madrid.”
Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro also wanted Neymar to join him at Real Madrid. He told Onda Cero: “I wanted Neymar to come to Real Madrid, I speak to him almost every day, he’s a great player.”
