Bayern Munich have confirmed that Robert Lewandowski has signed a new four-year contract.
Robert Lewandowski is one of the best strikers of this generation. No club would want a scenario where Lewandowski would walk away from their club. He had a contract until June 2021 with Bayern. But for a player of his calibre, it’s too risky not to offer him a better contract to keep him at the club.
The 31-year-old Poland striker joined Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund in 2014 and has since scored 197 goals in 247 appearances – six of which have already come this season.
Lewandowski is at his prolific best. He has already scored five goals in two Bundesliga games this season. He has now committed his future to the club through to 2023. Therefore, he could spend the rest of his career at the Allianz Arena, having established his place as one of the world’s top strikers.
Lewandowski told the club’s official website: “FC Bayern has become my sporting home. Besides, my family and I are happily settled in Munich. I’m convinced we’ll achieve a lot in the next few years.
FC Bayern are one of the three biggest clubs in the world, and we have an outstanding team. I’m proud to be part of this club.”
Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: “For me, Robert is the world’s best centre-forward, and he’s been a mainstay of our team for years. So we’re extremely pleased he’ll continue to play for FC Bayern for a long time.
We’re certain that together with Robert we’ll achieve our ambitious goals in the upcoming season and in the years to come.”
