Robert Lewandowski has seemingly played his last game for Bayern Munich. The striker himself has confirmed the fact that he will not be signing a new contract with the German giants, and will be working to find a solution with them.
Barcelona have been strongly linked with his signature, and could reach an agreement with him on personal terms soon. The player has been vocal about his demands for a three-year contract, which Barca will probably offer him.
Robert Lewandowski to leave Bayern Munich
Here is what Robert Lewandowski said: “It’s very possible that this was my last game for Bayern. I cannot say that at 100%, but it may have been [my last game]. We want to find the best solution for me and for the club”.
The 33-year-old has a contract with Bayern Munich until 2023, and this summer will be the last big chance that Bayern have at selling him. Otherwise, they will be losing him for free at the end of the 2022/23 season, when his contract runs out.
With the transfer fee for the Poland international, Bayern might be able to find a suitable replacement. A figure around €40 million was being rumoured for the player, but it is yet unclear how much Barcelona will be asked to pay for their top target.
Lewandowski scored in his last game for Bayern, ending the season with 35 goals and picking up the Bundesliga top scorer’s award yet again. He also helped the Bavarians win their tenth consecutive league title, and will now be moving on to a new challenge.
