Robert Lewandowski is having a phenomenal season! After winning Bayern’s 8th successive Bundesliga title, he is determined to succeed in Europe.
Bayern Munich faced Chelsea in the Champions League round of 16. They have ruthlessly routed Chelsea on their way to the ‘Final Eight’ tournament in Lisbon. Robert Lewandowski has almost single-handedly beaten Frank Lampard’s side. The aggregate score after the second-leg is 7-1 after starting the tie on 3-0 score from the first-leg.
Surprisingly, Lewandowski has been involved in all of the 7 Bayern goals against Chelsea. He scored 3 goals and provided 4 assists over the two-legged tie.
Lewandowski has become the first player in 16 years to achieve this feat of 3+ goals and assists in a Champions League match after Luis Figo did it for Real Madrid against AS Roma in the 2004-05 season.

He was the first player to register 3+ goals and assists against an opponent in a season since Luis Figo in 2004/05 vs Roma. Heaven. pic.twitter.com/6YnMObD34i

Robert Lewandowski has now scored 13 goals in the Champions League this season. He has already entered into the Champions League elite club this season as no player other than Messi and Ronaldo has scored 13+ goals in a single Champions League campaign. Cristiano Ronaldo holds the record for the highest no of goals with 17 goals.
Robert Lewandowski is the first player not named Ronaldo or Messi to hit 13+ goals in a single #UCL season.

Lewandowski may well have a go for the record but he will only get a maximum of 3 matches, instead of five, if Bayern manages to reach the final. And if he manages to achieve the record or win the Champions League, then he would surely feel he has been robbed of the Ballon d’Or award as France Football has cancelled the 2020 edition of the award due to the pandemic. The Poland striker has arguably been the best player in the world this season.
