Chelsea academy prospect Rio Ngumoha is set to move to Liverpool in the coming weeks. The youngster has accepted the proposal from the Merseyside club, and is now waiting for the formalities to be completed before his move becomes official.

As per Fabrizio Romano, the transfer could take up to four weeks to finalise owing to the Premier League’s thorough five-step checking process.

The 16-year-old is very impressive on the ball, with his control standing out as the most exciting part of his game. The youngster has been quite the revelation in Chelsea’s academy setup, but Liverpool were allegedly able to explain their pathway into the first team better than the Blues.

And even though Chelsea were able to match Liverpool’s offer financially, Rio Ngumoha has chosen to sign for Liverpool.

Given how the West Londoners are treating academy prospects like Trevoh Chalobah, and their tendency to sell academy graduates such as Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, Lewis Hall, Billy Gilmour, Tino Livramento and Ian Maatsen in recent years, it makes sense why Ngumoha wanted a linear progression and the opportunity to stay in the senior team without being sold.
