Scottish club Rangers are in talks with Besiktas for Ridvan Yilmaz. The Turkish left-back is close to joining the Europa League finalists for a €6 million fee, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The two clubs have agreed upon a 20% sell-on clause in his contract, which means that Besiktas will receive that percentage of any future sale. The player will be completing his transfer in the coming days once the formalities are completed. He has agreed to a five-year deal with Rangers.
Ridvan Yilmaz to join Rangers
The 21-year-old will be the replacement for Calvin Bassey in the line-up. Bassey left the club to join Ajax in a record sale for the Scottish side. He primarily played as a left-back for them, but could be used in a central role at his new club.
Ridvan Yilmaz will be covering the left flank of the defense. He is expected to have back-up from Borna Barisic. However, the Croatian is yet to sort out his future with several teams interested in signing him.
Rangers have signed Ben Davies from Liverpool to provide defensive cover for the new season. They are also working to announce a new contract for James Tavernier. The 30-year-old captains Rangers right now, and will be doing so for the next few years as well once he finalises a new deal.
