If you’ve been missing the warmth and wit of *After Life*, Ricky Gervais is about to fill that void — with cats. Netflix just dropped the first trailer and a batch of first-look images for *Alley Cats*, and it’s every bit as delightfully chaotic as you’d expect from Gervais.

### What Is *Alley Cats* About?

The series follows a group of feral British cats from all walks of society as they seek companionship and ruminate on the struggles and absurdities of everyday life. Think *After Life* — but with more hairballs and considerably fewer HR concerns. Fans can expect Gervais’s trademark blend of heart and sharp social commentary, wrapped in a bold 2D animated package.

The animation is handled by **Blink Industries**, the UK studio behind *Dead End: Paranormal Park* and the internet-famous *Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared* — so visually, this is going to be something special.

### The *After Life* Reunion You Didn’t See Coming

This is basically an [adult animation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adult_animation) *After Life* cast party. Gervais reunites with several of his *After Life* co-stars, including **Kerry Godliman, Jo Hartley, Diane Morgan, Tom Basden, David Earl, Andrew Brooke, and Tony Way** — alongside *EastEnders* favourite **Natalie Cassidy**. The whole gang is back, just with tails this time.

Gervais himself summed it up perfectly: *“I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a trailer. I can’t wait for everyone to get to know these cats.”*

### Sneak Peek at Annecy

Fans attending the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 25th will get a world-exclusive sneak peek at the first two episodes — ahead of the global Netflix premiere on **August 7th, 2026**.
