After the **mind-bending chaos** of *Rick and Morty* Season 8, fans are **desperate for answers**: **When does Season 9 premiere?** Who’s **returning to the cast**? And what **insane twists** can we expect from the **mad genius duo** this time? While Adult Swim has kept details **tightly under wraps**, we’ve pieced together **everything we know**—plus some **juicy predictions**—about the **upcoming season**.

From **release date rumors** to **cast confirmations** and **first-look teases**, here’s your **ultimate guide** to *Rick and Morty* Season 9.

### **When Will *Rick and Morty* Season 9 Premiere?**

The **biggest question** on every fan’s mind is: **When can we expect Season 9?** While Adult Swim hasn’t **officially confirmed a date**, we can make some **educated guesses** based on past release patterns.

Historically, *Rick and Morty* seasons have **premiered in late summer or early fall**, with **Season 8 dropping in September 2023**. Given the show’s **production timeline** (which includes **animation, voice recording, and post-production**), it’s **likely that Season 9 will follow a similar schedule**. However, there’s a **wildcard factor**: the **2023 Writers’ Strike**, which **delayed many animated shows**. While *Rick and Morty* wasn’t **directly impacted** (thanks to its **long production cycle**), the strike may have caused **minor setbacks** in scripting or voice work.

**Our Prediction:** *Rick and Morty* Season 9 will **premiere in September or October 2024**, just in time for **spooky season**—because what’s scarier than **Rick’s nihilistic antics**?

### **Who’s Returning for Season 9? The Cast We Know So Far**

One thing’s for sure: **Rick and Morty wouldn’t be the same** without its **iconic voice cast**. Here’s who we can **expect to return** for Season 9:

| **Character** | **Voice Actor** | **Status** |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Rick Sanchez | Justin Roiland | **Replaced** (more on this below) |
| Morty Smith | Justin Roiland | **Replaced** |
| Beth Smith | Sarah Chalke | **Confirmed** |
| Summer Smith | Spencer Grammer | **Confirmed** |
| Jerry Smith | Chris Parnell | **Confirmed** |

**The Big Change: Justin Roiland’s Exit**
The **elephant in the room** is Justin Roiland’s **departure** from the show after **legal troubles** in 2023. Adult Swim **quickly recast** Rick and Morty, bringing in **new voice actors** to take over the roles. While the **new voices haven’t been officially announced**, rumors suggest **fans can expect a seamless transition**—though purists may **miss Roiland’s iconic delivery**.

**New Additions?**
Season 9 might also **introduce new characters**, given the show’s **penchant for wild guest stars**. Past seasons have featured **celebrities like Elon Musk, Susan Sarandon, and even *Weird Al* Yankovic**, so don’t be surprised if **another A-lister pops up** in a **bizarre cameo**.

### **What Can We Expect from Season 9? Plot Predictions & Theories**?

*Rick and Morty* is **notorious for its unpredictable storytelling**, but Season 8 left us with **plenty of loose ends** to chew on. Here’s what we **think (and hope!)** will happen in Season 9:

#### **1. The Fallout of Rick’s “Final” Sacrifice**

At the end of Season 8, Rick **seemingly sacrificed himself** to save the universe (again). But let’s be real—**Rick doesn’t stay dead**. Season 9 will likely **reveal how he survived** (multiverse shenanigans, anyone?) and **what consequences** his “death” had on the Smith family.

#### **2. Morty’s Growing Independence**

Morty has **evolved from a nervous kid** to a **more confident, morally complex** character. Season 9 might **push him further**, possibly **testing his loyalty to Rick**—especially if Rick’s **latest stunt** put the family in danger *again*.

#### **3. The Return of Evil Morty?**

Fans have been **begging for Evil Morty’s return** since his **mind-blowing cameo** in Season 5. With Rick “dead” (or so we thought), could this be **Evil Morty’s chance to strike**? Theories suggest he might **finally take center stage** in Season 9.

#### **4. More Multiverse Madness**

*Rick and Morty* thrives on **multiversal chaos**, and Season 9 will **undoubtedly dive deeper** into alternate realities. Will we see **more versions of Rick and Morty**? A **new Council of Ricks**? Or even a **cross-over with another animated universe**? (Fingers crossed for *Simpsons* or *Futurama*!)

#### **5. A Deeper Dive into Beth and Jerry’s Marriage**

Beth and Jerry’s **on-again, off-again relationship** has been a **running gag** for years. But with **Beth’s growing independence** and **Jerry’s perpetual incompetence**, could Season 9 **finally push them to a breaking point**?

### **First Look: What Have We Seen So Far?**

Adult Swim has been **tight-lipped** about Season 9, but a **few teases** have slipped out:

- **A Cryptic Poster**: Released at **San Diego Comic-Con 2023**, the poster showed **Rick’s silhouette with a question mark**, hinting at his **unknown fate**.
- **A Short Teaser Clip**: During a **2024 Adult Swim promo**, a **3-second clip** showed Morty **holding a mysterious device** while Rick’s voice (now with the **new VA**) says, *“Ohhhh, this is gonna be fun.”* (Cue fan **theory explosions**.)

While we **don’t have a full trailer yet**, these **tiny hints** suggest that Season 9 will be **just as wild, if not wilder**, than its predecessors
