French newspaper L’Equipe have revealed the contract details of Lionel Messi’s 2+1 year deal with PSG. Messi is set to earn the same amount as Neymar, and more than Kylian Mbappe at the French capital.

The first season will see Messi earn €30 million, and in 22/23, the Argentinian will earn €40 million. If he chooses to extend his contract for a third year, he will earn €40 million in the third season as well. By the time he runs through his deal with the Parisians, he will be 37 years old.

The total amount of money that Messi will earn over three years is €110 million, which also consists of a cryptocurrency stake worth €30 million. The amount he is currently earning at PSG is the same had he chosen to continue with Barcelona under permissible conditions.

Messi was willing to reduce his salary by 50% to continue with the Blaugrana. However, extreme financial mismanagement and the La Liga wage cap rules prohibited Barcelona from registering their captain to the league squad once again. As a result, Messi decided to end his tenure with the Spanish giants and he decided to move to PSG to reunite with Neymar.

The Argentinian has tied up with crypto.com that will see him earn an extra €30 million throughout the duration of his stay with the French Giants. Messi has made a couple of appearances for his new club, and is yet to find the back of the net for them.
