Atalanta have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest for the sale of Remo Freuler. The player will become the 13th new signing for the newly promoted club, capping off a remarkable summer transfer window.
The 30-year-old is currently in England to finalise the transfer, and will be announced officially later today. Forest have already signed Orel Mangala and Lewis O’Brien this summer to bolster the midfield, but Freuler will provide international experience and quality to the existing lineup to possibly help them survive in the top flight.
Remo Freuler to join Nottingham Forest
The central midfielder extended his contract in May until 2025, but will make the move regardless. The transfer fee will be in the region of €9 million plus add-ons, which is a signing of great value.
Remo Freuler has made over 200 appearances for La Dea, and has scored 17 goals during his time at the club. He has played six seasons with them, and has earned the captain’s armband as well. But now, will be taking on a new challenge in the Premier League after playing Champions League football with the Italian club.
Freuler has earned 46 caps for the Switzerland national team, and featured in the 2018 World Cup, as well as the 2020 Euros. His arrival will be a huge boost for the club, provided that he has competed at the highest of levels in football.
