Xiaomi launches the new RedmiBook 14 with latest 10th Gen Intel Comet Lake CPUs in China

Its been couple of months since Xiaomi launched the original RedmiBook 14 in India alongside the Redmi K20 lineup. Now, Xiaomi has become desperate to compete with other OEMs & laptop manufacturers who are upgrading to 10th Gen Intel CPUs.

The original RedmiBook 14 with 8th Gen Intel CPUs will remain to be the standard ones while those powered by 10th Gen Intel processors will be known as RedmiBook 14 Enhanced Edition with enhanced features and functionalities.

Specs & Features

From the design perspective, there’s no change honestly, just a tweak in the horsepower and obviously to the laptop’s hardware as a whole. Yes, the light & compact RedmiBook 14 Enhanced Edition now comes with 10th Gen Intel Comet Lake CPUs.

It’s great to see a huge smartphone manufacturing company who has just started the laptop business for a few years now to suddenly adapt to the latest Intel CPUs that has only been launched for a week now as well as bring to the customers so fast.

So for the horsepower, under the hood, you get to choose between Intel Core i5-10210U or Core i7-10510U processor. This seems to be a huge upgrade from the 8th Gen Whiskey Lake CPUs, giving more performance to the users.

The Core-i5 powered variant has been coupled with 8GB RAM and up to 512GB SSD storage (also there’s a 256GB SSD variant). On the other hand, the Core-i7 variant comes in a single configuration with 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage.

The laptop is powered by a discrete GPU – 2GB of NVIDIA GeForce MX250 GPU which is great for handling some graphics-intensive tasks as well as for casual gaming.

Rest of the specs remains same to the original RedmiBook 14 like the 14-inch Full-HD display wth 250 nits of peak brightness. Also, there’s the 46Wh battery that promises a great battery life as well.

For the ports & I/O, we have 2 USB-A 3.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0 port, HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Pricing & Availability

The RedmiBook 14 Enhanced Edition will be available in three types of configurations carrying different CPU & storage options along with different pricing:

Core i5-10210U + 256GB SSD3,999 yuan (Rs.40,000)
Core i5-10210U + 512GB SSD4,499 yuan (Rs.45,000)
Core i7-10510U + 512GB SSD4,999 yuan (Rs.50,000)

We already know how cheap the RedmiBook is, now with the latest Intel CPUs the MSRP seems quite reasonable too. Till now we saw only the Silver colour variant but Xiaomi also launched the Grey and Pink colour variants of the RedmiBook 14 as well.

This new and refreshed laptop is now up for pre-orders and the first sale of the device has been scheduled for September 6 from Mi.com, Mi Home, and other online stores in China.

Though how great the RedmiBooks might be but they do not seem to arrive in India as it requires a lot of arrangement and infrastructure to crave the demand for a huge country like India. Maybe sometime later you can get hold of one at higher rates through some Chinese websites that ship to India.
