Xiaomi is actively teasing the launch of a new model in the Redmi K80 series on Chinese social media. The company had already confirmed that the Redmi K80 Extreme Edition will go official this month and will be powered by MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9400+ chip. In addition to this, it’ll have a special display chip that’s designed to increase its performance, generally to rival the best on the market.

Apart from performance boosts, Xiaomi has again confirmed that the Redmi K80 Extreme Edition will also offer excellent battery life. The previous model, released last year, came with a combined battery capacity of 5,500 mAh, which was decent but modest compared to some newer devices like the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, which offers a battery exceeding 7,000 mAh. Xiaomi has also confirmed that its upcoming Redmi K80 Extreme Edition model will ship with a 7,410 mAh battery, which is almost 35% larger than the one on the previous model.

Although this battery is slightly smaller than the 7,550 mAh pack found in the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, Xiaomi is expected to make up for it with faster wired charging. The device will feature wired charging up to 100W, in addition to new “Bypass Charging Plus” technology that will see less damage caused to the battery over time. It remains to be seen, though, whether these battery tweaks will make it into a global variant of the phone.

Considering that Xiaomi equipped the Xiaomi 14T Pro (priced around ₹53,000 on Amazon) with a smaller battery than the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition, it’s possible the upcoming Xiaomi 15T Pro could follow a similar pattern later this year. Overall, Xiaomi’s focus on balancing performance and battery life in the Redmi K80 Extreme Edition highlights their push to remain competitive in the high-performance smartphone market.
