Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its latest budget smartphone, the Redmi A5, in India on April 15 at 12 PM IST. This comes on the heels of the Redmi A4 5G, which launched last year, but instead of a 5G model, the Redmi A5 is going with a more budget-friendly, 4G-only device.

Targeting users seeking value without compromising on fundamentals, the Redmi A5 will be priced below ₹10,000. It will be available through Flipkart, which already has a dedicated page going live that shows off its design and some of the confirmed features.

Another major highlight of the Redmi A5 is its 6.88-inch, HD+ display with 120Hz refresh — a feature that is far more common in higher-tier devices. Xiaomi is also playing up TÜV Rheinland certification, which typically means enhanced eye comfort, especially during long stretches using the screen. You can use the phone for day-to-day tasks, browsing the web, scrolling through social media, and light multitasking with the Unisoc T7250 chipset that the phone runs on.

The phone promises solid battery life thanks to its 5,200mAh capacity, though it remains to be seen how fast charging will play out specifically in India. On the global front, the phone supports 15W charging, so it should be the same for the Indian variant too. The official Indian specifications haven’t been revealed, but the global model features a 32MP main rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. Other hardware highlights include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, AG frosted glass back panel, and support for dual-band Wi-Fi.

As for aesthetics, the Redmi A5 will be available in three colors: Jaisalmer Gold, Pondicherry Blue, and Just Black. Given the Redmi A4 5G launched at ₹8,499, the A5 is expected to be priced between ₹8,000 and ₹9,500, making it a competitive option for buyers looking for a budget smartphone with modern features and a high refresh rate display.
