While Black Widow and Bucky Barnes hog the spotlight in every *Avengers: Doomsday* trailer, one New Avenger has been stuck on the bench — until now. New merchandise just gave **Red Guardian** fans something to cheer about: a comic-accurate shield, five years after he lost it.

Toy maker ZD Toys leaked action figure renders (via X user @I__Love__Heroes) showing Alexei Shostakov’s figure holding a shield emblazoned with a Soviet star. It’s a small detail, but a big deal for longtime fans of the character.

## Why This Detail Matters

Alexei picked up a Soviet-star shield in his 2021 solo-adjacent debut, [*Black Widow*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Widow_(2021_film)), but lost track of it once he landed in prison. Animated variants of the character kept using the weapon in *What If…?* and *Marvel Zombies*, but the mainline MCU timeline never brought it back — until this merch leak.

It fits a growing pattern: *Doomsday* is loading up its heroes with new gear ahead of what Thor calls a fight requiring nothing short of a miracle. Nightcrawler gets swords, Thor dual-wields hammers, and now Red Guardian may be getting his signature shield back for the fight against Doctor Doom.

David Harbour has already teased a face-to-face with Doom, cryptically quoting a line — “You… are Tony Stark” — that hints Alexei will recognize Doom’s resemblance to Earth-616’s original Iron Man.
