Real Madrid has suddenly seen a recent slump in their form after they lost their la liga match to Girona 2-1 in the weekend and again lost their champions league group stage match against Tottenham Hotspur 3-1. Real Madrid’s defence was no match to Tottenham’s attacking trio of Hary Keane, Dele Alli and Ericksen. The absence of Keylor Navas from goal and Varane and Carvajal from defense due to injury, was the main reason of the lackluster display of Real Madrid’s defense, which led to the breaking of the record of never losing a champions league group stage match to any English club. This new team without Pepe, Danillo, Morata and James lacks in depth of the squad which also played a major role as many of the star players are injured. Bale and Kovacic are injured too for months.
Zidane : “We weren’t able to get the result today. We’ve lost a league match and a Champions League match. That’s two defeats in a row and we can’t be happy, neither can we be emotional. It’s a bad time, but you have to accept it. When you win it’s accepted and we’re happy. When you lose you have to hold your head up high and think that this is football and we have a lot of games still to play and time to turn this around and that is what we’re going to do”.
Following the clash between Real Madrid and Tottenham at Wembley, Sergio Ramos spoke to the press about the result: “The score line is a bit deceptive, not to take anything away from Tottenham. They played very well, they’re a great side, with a great stadium and fans who really make a difference. We’ve benefitted from Borussia Dortmund’s draw and we’re still well in the mix. We would have liked the result to be different, and to be fighting to be top of the group. We did certain things quite well but that’s overshadowed by the result. We understand that the fans could get disillusioned after recent results, but Real Madrid always fight back and if anyone thinks that we’re done for, we’ll put them in their place. From my experience at Real Madrid, when you lose a couple of games, people begin to talk about a crisis. You have to stay calm and be united. We’re alive in our favourite competition, the Champions League. We must stay calm, remain united and convinced that the Real Madrid we know will be back very soon”.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored Real Madrid’s goal in what was their first ever competitive game at Wembley, and he spoke to the press after the final whistle: “It’s a bad result because we’re used to winning. We’re on a poor run but we want to change it and I’m sure we’re going to do so. It’s just the beginning, we’ve got a long time to improve and I’m convinced we can do it”.
“We can’t play great all the time, we have to change things and admit we’re not where we wanted to be, but we must stay calm. I don’t think things are too bad, I don’t think the team is playing that badly, so we have to keep the faith. We’ve got to stay positive, because it’s the end the counts, not the beginning”.
Modric: “We must keep going and look for answers. Tottenham deserved to win and we must move forward and try to find solutions to get out of this run. It’s not nice but we’ve been like this before and we’ve always come out of these situations. I’m sure we’ll do it again”.
“It is not a physical or mental problem because we’re physically in good shape. The biggest problem is how we’re playing, we’re not playing like we can and as we have done for a long time. We have to do everything possible to re-find our style of play. We’ve not played how we’d like and we’ll have to find out why that is”.

And, at last a good news for all the madridistas out there. Gareth Bale has returned to training and we can expect him to play within few matches only, which can be huge moral boost for the whole squad.
