PSG are all set to place an official bid for Lionel Messi over the weekend, after it was confirmed that Barcelona would part ways with the forward.
Should Messi arrive at the French capital, it would be tricky to accommodate him due to the financial rules governing football bodies. But, in all likelihood, PSG looks like the most probable destination for him and the only other club in line for him is Chelsea but they have not launched an offer for him.
With so many high-wage earners at the club, it might be the only option for the Parisians to sell one of their star players since they have €200 million in net debt. On that front, Kylian Mbappe is the only player who could realistically be on his way out of the club.
The youngster has been approached for a renewal by the board since last season, but he has not agreed a new contract with them yet. And by the looks of things, he might not want to continue with the club any further.
PSG still maintain that they don’t want to sell Mbappe, and Real Madrid are the only club willing to splash the funds for him this summer. But, according to Marca, Madrid will only go in for the player late in the transfer window, and if PSG clarify to the La Liga club that they are going to sell him. As of now, Mbappe is still a player for the Qatar-owned club and will depart as a free agent next summer unless he agrees a new contract.
