Real Madrid have started their new season by winning the UEFA Super Cup in a 2-0 win over Atalanta. Federico Valverde scored the opening goal for Los Blancos in the second half in his first competitive match wearing number 8, while Kylian Mbappe also scored on his competitive debut for Madrid to make it a comfortable win.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side have started the season brightly by winning a trophy in their first game of the season. And with a fearsome attack already in place, it will be interesting to see how things pan out in the rest of the season.

Luka Modric has become the Real Madrid player with the most trophies in the club’s history at 27. The veteran signed a new contract to remain at the club this summer, and lifted the UEFA Super Cup as the captain last night.
Vinicius Jr played an important role in the game, stepping up to provide the assist for Valverde’s first goal. The Brazilian was a constant threat on the wing, and so was his compatriot Rodrygo on the right side.
Atalanta, on the other hand, were effectively neutralised by their opponents, and had just two shots on goal in the game. After a difficult start to their campaign, it remains to be seen if they can fight back in Serie A and the Champions League.
How many times has Real Madrid won UEFA Super Cup?
Six times, most in history.
