The footballing world has been plagued with rumours linking Bayern Munich defender David Alaba to Real Madrid, and the deal is reportedly close to completion.
Spanish publication Marca recently had the story on their frontpage, saying that Real Madrid had reached a complete agreement with the Austrian, and that the contract had been signed as well.
However, speaking on the possible transfer on the Here We Go, Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio said that only a verbal agreement had been reached between the two parties. According to the journalists, Alaba has agreed a four-year deal with Madrid and is set to earn a salary worth €12 million after taxes, which will put him among the highest earners at the club.
Los Blancos are “more than leading the race”, according to the Italians and an official agreement is expected to be announced in the upcoming weeks by the club.
As many as 5 other clubs were in the race for the defender, and Liverpool reportedly made the most financially lucrative deal for the player. However, Alaba’s ambition of playing for Madrid took priority over money and the Bayern Munich player is all but set to don the white jersey next season.
