Much has been said about the situation of Raphael Varane at Real Madrid over the last few days. The Frenchman’s contract with Real Madrid will expire at the end of the 21/22 season, and he will have only one year remaining on his current deal at the end of the ongoing campaign.
There has been speculation that Real Madrid are willing to sell the player, but speaking on the Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio mentioned that Madrid actually want to start talks with him in the coming weeks to potentially extend his contract with the club.
Varane is now represented by one of the biggest player agencies in Europe, CAA Base, which also represents other big players at similarly big clubs. The Italian duo made it clear that whoever wants him has to pay. At the moment, there are no agreement and there are no negotiations yet, either. For those wanting to see the news of the player staying at the club, patience will be the only way out.
But for sure it will be after the Sergio Ramos situation is sorted out at the club. The captain is out of contract in the summer and will be free to leave on a free transfer. He is an important player for the club, and has given his everything to the white shirt of Real Madrid.
Elsewhere, Luka Modric’s contract is also to be extended. The deal is said and done. He accepted the offer and the difficult salary situation that still exists at the club even now. It is just a matter of announcing the deal, and Real are taking their time with it since Modric is comfortable knowing that the work on his side his done.
