Real Madrid lose to Mallorca and go further behind Barcelona in the La Liga title race

Real Madrid has been on a downhill for the last few months. They started the 2022-23 season well but have now been a mere shadow of themselves. Real Madrid has now lost to Mallorca by a 1-0 scoreline. Marco Asensio missed a penalty as Los Blancos now give Barcelona a chance to go 8 points ahead at the top of the La Liga table. It seems as if Madrid are giving up the title race. The playing attitude is also a significant concern for the team.

Los Blancos wanted to bring Mbappe to the Bernabeu but failed in his pursuit and decided against signing any other attacker. This has now come back to hurt them.

Karim Benzema hasn’t been 100% this season and has missed some games. During his absence, Rodrygo has taken up his place but hasn’t been able to fill in the big boots of the Frenchman. Madrid badly needed a good backup striker along with a fullback.

Camavinga, originally a midfielder, is being forced to play at left-back and even then he has been Madrid’s best LB. This clearly shows the lack of depth in this current squad.

🎙| @LaLigaTV: “A shambolic Real Madrid performance. There was no fight, no desire, no passion shown: apart from perhaps Camavinga who kept fighting, winning duels until the end. There was nothing.”

❗️Ancelotti has not called up Castilla players today because they're currently playing a very important game: if they win vs Alcorcon they'll be first. ⚪️ pic.twitter.com/2O1NbcGqgV

🎙| @laligatv commentator: “That goal is the fault of the defence and the midfield. I don’t think Lunin could have done anything unless he can fly.”

Real Madrid is basically pass the ball to Vinicius and if he does something we might win if he doesn’t we won’t. Literally all our attacks go through him, if he gets marked out we don’t have a plan B. Biggest club in the world has only way of attacking.
