Real Madrid are estimated to have lost a sum worth €5 million in earnings through ticket sales due to the absence of fans in their recent victory against Barcelona in the 264th El Clasico. Adding to the financial burdens of the club, their first leg clash against Liverpool in the Champions League could have brought in about €10 million.

However, Los Blancos are set to miss out on all that money due to the pandemic preventing fans from entering stadiums at all. This has been the case for most clubs, but revenue of this stature will no doubt leave a hole in the finances of most clubs across Europe.

The players of the club are already taking a 10% salary cut due to the absence of funds among the pandemic. Additionally, Real Madrid also have to negotiate new contracts with many of their important players which could only add to their financial burdens or they risk losing the player on a free transfer.

The reigning La Liga Champions managed to rise to the top of the table again when they beat Barcelona 2-1 in the most recent El Clasico. Additionally, they completed the double over their rivals for the first time in over a decade to deny them the chance to go to the top of the table instead.
