Kalvin Phillips

Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips, according to Defensa Central. The player caught the eye of new Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, and Madrid are expected to keep an eye on him for the rest of Euro 2020.

Phillips started for England in their first game of the tournament and provided the assist for the match-winning goal scored by Raheem Sterling. His contributions to both England and Leeds United have earned him a lot of praise.

Among his many abilities is his tireless workrate that allows him to not only help the attack going forward, but also come back and defend when needed. He is crucial for Bielsa’s team and is the player that makes the team function at its best. His contributions to the team don’t always make it to the stats sheet, since he only scored one goal and provided two assists in the league.

Moreover, he comes from Yorkshire and loves playing for his hometown club. He is loved by the fans of the club as well, who would surely not want to lose him at any cost. Before Euro 2020, his market value was quoted at £26 million, so Madrid could cut a reasonable deal if they play their cards right. And if he keeps up this level of brilliance, that could rise significantly.

With all that said, Leeds maintain a hard “not for sale” stance regarding their number 23, who is seen as the most important player for their team.
