Martin Odegaard has been an absolute revelation for Arsenal this season. The Norwegian’s acquisition being heralded as the best deals of the summer. And that becomes even more apparent when you consider that he has been in great form as of late, and has been able to deliver what was asked of him – to be creative in attack.
Real Madrid are hoping that Odegaard can retain his form until he returns to the Spanish capital at the end of the season when his loan deal expires. The youngster barely featured for Real Madrid since the return of the midfield trio of Kroos,Casemiro and Modric and also struggled to perform at the beginning of the season.
The reason behind his shaky performances at the beginning of the season can be accounted for by the fact that he was suffering from tendonitis. While it does not rule a player out completely, it prevents them from performing at their best, and that is what Odegaard had to struggle with.
The midfielder spent the 19/20 season out on loan with Real Sociedad, and was very impressive while out on loan. Zidane gave him playing time for his parent club when he came back, and to say that Odegaard has been patient is an understatement.
The loan move to Arsenal can only be seen as an attempt to revitalise the player and get him back to his best. Arsenal have no option to buy the player, and hence, if Odegaard performs well, it ultimately benefits Madrid.
