According to the Mirror, Real Madrid are growing more and more interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer. They would likely be charged less than £10 million to sign the 37-year-old at the end of the season, for the second time in their history.
The player left the club in 2018, and has since featured for Juventus and Manchester United. But, his time with the two clubs has not reached the heights that he achieved during his time with Real Madrid. And now, a sensational return to the Santiago Bernabeu could be on the cards for the veteran.
Cristiano Ronaldo rumoured to return to Real Madrid this summer
The main reason behind the rumour is due to growing concerns over whether or not Madrid will be able to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer. The Frenchman is out of a contract with PSG at the end of the season, but the club are optimistic about keeping him beyond the current season.
So, if Los Blancos miss out on their top target for a second successive year, they could turn to the highest goalscorer in their history for more firepower. The Portugal captain has proved that he can still deliver at the top level, scoring 23 goals across all competitions for a dismal United team.
Given his age, Cristiano Ronaldo might not be the long-term solution that Real Madrid need. So, until they can find a successor to the attack, they are considering a return for one of their greatest legends.
