Real Madrid have confirmed their new number 8 after the departure of Toni Kroos, with Fede Valverde taking over the coveted jersey.
The Uruguayan has worn number 15 since the 18/19 season, switching from 27 originally. And now, he will take up one of the most recognisable numbers in the squad, one which he has earned after his brilliance over the last six years. Arda Guler will wear number 15 after donning 24 this past season, while Eduardo Camavinga will wear number 6, inheriting it from the outgoing club captain, Nacho.

Fans have been puzzled about Kylian Mbappe’s jersey number ever since his transfer to Real Madrid was officially confirmed by the club. And now, it has been revealed that he will wear number 9, inheriting the jersey from former Ballon d’or winner and Real Madrid captain Karim Benzema.
His idol, Cristiano Ronaldo also wore the jersey when he arrived in Madrid, before switching to the iconic 7. With Vinicius currently holding Ronaldo’s former number and Modric continuing with his number 10, Mbappe will be wearing the number 9 for the coming season.
He never asked for the number 10 out of respect, which he has worn for the French national team for several years now. However, it’s almost certain that he will take the number 10 jersey once Modric calls time on his legendary career.
