Real Madrid have agreed a change in date for their final LaLiga fixture of the season against Real Betis to accommodate Taylor Swift’s concert at their stadium. The final matchday of the season has traditionally been played on a Sunday for all clubs, but this time around, Los Blancos will play on Saturday, 25th May, instead of the 26th.
This will give them ample time to prepare for the concert, which is set to be held on the 29th and 30th. The massive demand for the American pop idol forced her to add another date to her stadium tour, which has now had an effect on the football season.
Real Madrid to play last LaLiga game on Saturday, 25th May for Taylor Swift concert
The demand for the Eras Tour has been massive with reportedly over 450,000 fans requesting tickets over the past year. The management has said that select fans will be getting an email regarding the tickets on February 28th, a day before the first show.
Around 85,000 fans will be able to watch the pop star perform at the Santiago Bernabeu after it has been safely constructed for the concert over the next three days.
Swift will perform at Lisbon, Portugal, the weekend before and two nights in Lyon, France, the weekend after.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, could lift the LaLiga title on a Saturday rather than a Sunday, in an anticlimactic finish to the season. They are currently leading the race for the league title and don’t seem like dropping points in spite of the massive injury crisis they find themselves in.
