Real Madrid will take legal action against La Liga in accordance with their €2.7 billion injection into the league. In exchange for the funds from CVC, the league will give them 10% of TV earnings for the next 50 years.

According to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, the deal is unfair on clubs since the league does not allow the teams to sign TV rights deals for more than three years. La Liga president Javier Tebas also tweeted the following in response to Perez threatening to take legal action against them:

‘The threatening method that FP (Florentino Perez) has been using in private for years is now being transferred to the public (sphere).

‘Clubs and institutions have had to put up with their threats for years. Since 2015 against the centralized sale (of TV rights), the constant challenges of agreements, the Superliga. Real Madrid deserves better.’

Perez made Laporta disagree to the CVC agreement through Barça CEO, Ferran Reverter, which led Barça to losing Messi.

And now, Florentino Perez is filing out legal actions against Javier Tebas and the CVC itself for its alleged illegal agreement.

The Spanish league also released an official statement justifying their actions, and stating that they are willing to stand up to Madrid as part of the deal.

‘La Liga is not concerned about a possible legal action by Real Madrid, as it was a foreseeable reaction given the history of said club of opposing any strategic project that represents an advance and a boost for the competition and its clubs.’

Like Real Madrid, Barcelona have also opposed the deal following the revelation that the contract signed was for half a century. While it would have allowed the Blaugrana to re-sign Lionel Messi, it would have caused a lot of damage to the club in the future, and that is something Joan Laporta decided against.

Florentino Perez and Javier Tebas continue their heated rivalry with the latest developments in Spanish football. The cases between the club and the league have exceeded 50, and it remains to be seen how the courts deal with the situation that we see before us now.
