Real Madrid and Barcelona were both held to draws in the second matchday of the 21/22 season of La Liga.
While Barcelona drew 1-1 against Athletic Club Bilbao, Real Madrid had a chaotic game against Levante that saw them draw level at 3-3 when the final whistle blew.
Gareth Bale scored his first goal for Real Madrid since September 2019, as he converted an assist from Karim Benzema. 30 seconds after the second half began, Roger Marti gave Levante the equaliser, and 10 minutes afterwards, they were ahead thanks to a goal from Jose Campana.
Ancelotti dealt with the situation by substituting Gareth Bale, Eden Hazard and Isco for Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr and Marco Asensio. The change proved to be key as Vincius scored in the 73rd minute, through yet another assist from Karim Benzema. However, the home side took the lead in the 79th minute again.
Vinicius scored his second goal in the 85th minute to draw level with the opposition, as Benzema achieved a hat-trick of assists in the game. Madrid continue their unbeaten start to the league, but could have had things go much worse than they turned out.
As for Barcelona, they were close to losing the game, after Bilbao took the lead in the 50th minute thanks to Inigo Martinez. However, Memphis Depay picked the perfect time to score his first goal for the club, as he equalised in the 75th minute to draw the game.
Atletico Madrid remain the only club with two wins out of two at the top of the league table, while Barcelona and Real Madrid have fallen two points behind the defending champions.
