Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement with Alphonso Davies over a transfer in the summer, according to Relevo. The left-back is out of a contract with Bayern Munich in 2025, and with one year remaining, he could force his way out of the club.

The left-back has long been linked with a transfer to the Spanish capital. And now that Madrid have reached an agreement with the player, all that remains is an agreement with Bayern Munich for the move to go through. But it won’t be easy to achieve that, since the Bavarians value Davies immensely and will likely charge a hefty fee for him if they are unable to offer him a new deal.

Alphonso Davies to sign for Real Madrid this summer?

The Canadian joined Bayern in 2019 and has since gone on to emerge as one of the best left-backs in the world. He won the treble with them in his debut season, and impressed the world with his pace and dribbling skills. Originally, he was expected to be the replacement for Arjen Robben, but he was fitted into left-back and has since grown into the role.

The 23-year-old has played 180 games for Bayern across all competitions, and has scored nine goals while providing 28 assists. He has also made 44 appearances for the Canadian National team, scoring 15 goals.

If Davies arrives, Fran Garcia might have to take a step back in the squad considering the capability that the Bayern man has. But, he could also surprise all of us by competing with Alphonso Davies for game time or even limiting it to a considerable extent.

Davies is also prone to getting injured, with several issues limiting his game time over the past two years. And as a result, having a solid backup like Garcia could do wonders for the squad depth in the coming years.

According to data from the 2021-2022 season, Davies consistently ranks among the top players in terms of progressive carries, demonstrating his ability to drive the ball forward and advance the team up the pitch with his dynamic runs.

In addition to his speed, Davies possesses exceptional dribbling ability, which he uses to great effect in breaking through opposition defenses. His close control and agility enable him to navigate tight spaces and evade challenges with ease, making him a constant threat in one-on-one situations. Data on successful dribbles further underscores Davies’ proficiency in taking on defenders and creating opportunities for his team in the attacking third.

While Davies is primarily known for his attacking contributions, he also excels defensively, thanks to his athleticism, anticipation, and tactical awareness. His defensive stats, including interceptions, tackles won, and aerial duels won, highlight his effectiveness in regaining possession and providing defensive stability for his team.
