Real Madrid’s bad luck in El Clasico has ended following their 4-0 win against Barcelona at Camp Nou. The defending La Liga champions have now advanced to the finals of the Copa del Rey, beating their rivals 4-1 on aggregate in the semifinals.
The first half saw the hosts put in a decent performance. But, a very strong showing from Thibaut Courtois, and Eduardo Camavinga, who was played at left-back again, prevented them from conceding. The young Frenchman was incredible last night, as he put in a remarkable defensive shift even though it isn’t his natural position.
Karim Benzema and Vinicius guide Real Madrid to Camp Nou El Clasico win
Right before the first half ended, Vinicius Jr broke his Camp Nou scoring curse with a goal following a break. The ball had crossed the line before Benzema nudged it in, and the goal was credited to the Brazilian.
Benzema has now scored a hat-trick in consecutive games, following their recent win over Valladolid. The striker scored following the break with a well-placed finish from outside the box. And then, he converted from the penalty spot after Vinicius was fouled by Franck Kessie.
The Real Madrid captain scored his third goal with a calm chip over ter Stegen’s foot, making it 4-0 for his side. Karim Benzema has become the first Madridista to score a hat-trick at Camp Nou since Ferenc Puskas, who achieved the feat in 1963.
Carlo Ancelotti finally has a win over Xavi Hernandez in El Clasico, while his side have a great chance to finish the season with a trophy. Real Madrid will face Osasuna in the finals of the Copa del Rey to complete their trophy haul under the Italian.
