Real Madrid extended their lead at the top of the La Liga table with a 3-2 win against Sevilla. Carlo Ancelotti’s men pulled off an extraordinary second half comeback for the second time in a week to win the game and break the hearts of their opponents.

Sevilla got off to the best start possible, with Ivan Rakitic scoring from a free kick that went through the wall. Erik Lamela doubled the lead for the home team shortly after, tapping in from close range after Thibaut Courtois rushed off his line.

Ancelotti sent on Rodrygo in the second half, and the Brazilian scored yet another goal after coming off the bench. Vinicius Jr’s goal was ruled out for handball after a lengthy VAR check. The winger insisted that he never touched the ball, but it was not allowed to stand.

Nacho Fernandez leveled things up for his side, coming to the forefront as the unlikely hero. And in the final minutes of the game, Karim Benzema scored his 39th goal from 39 games this season to help his side take all three points from Andalusia.

Carlo Ancelotti strongly criticised the referee following the game, even going as far as to say that he had a plan for the game. But despite all the early shocks, the game of two halves ended in his team’s favour. Real Madrid are becoming rather consistent with their habit of pulling off late comebacks, and it could prove extremely vital in the Champions League.
