Real Madrid extended their lead at the top of the La Liga table with a 3-1 win over Sevilla. The defending champions were able to continue their unbeaten run across all competitions with goals from Luka Modric, Lucas Vasquez and Federico Valverde.
Sevilla, on the other hand, face a long way back from their slump in form. They remain in 15th place in the table with only ten points from 11 games played so far this year.
Real Madrid defeat Sevilla to extend unbeaten run
Luka Modric opened the scoring for the home team only six minutes into the game. Vinicius Jr set up the Croatian for an easy tap-in. And after heading into the tunnel with the lead, Sevilla were able to get back on level terms shortly after the restart.
Erik Lamela got the equaliser for the visitors after beating Thibaut Courtois from a tight angle. But, Lucas Vasquez helped restore the lead with an easy finish. Shortly after, Federico Valverde scored another screamer to kill off the game and make it 3-1. The Uruguayan now has seven goals in the season, which is a remarkable return.
With the win, Real Madrid have equalled their best start after ten games in La Liga in the history of the competition as they have 31 points off of a possible 33 in 11 games.
