Real Betis are trying to sign Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar this summer, with the player expected to leave France this summer. He has been linked with several Premier League clubs in the past, such as Arsenal. But, a move never materialised for the player.

Betis sporting director Antonio Cordon has been insistent that they are going to try and get Aouar before the end of the window. He would cost anywhere between €20-25 million, and it remains to be seen whether the club can afford that kind of a fee.

Real Betis are really pushing to sign Houssem Aouar from OL. Talks on, as player is open to leave Lyon this summer and try a new chapter. 🟢 #transfers

Aouar will make final decision on his next club soon.

The central midfielder would be a natural replacement for Nabil Fekir, should he choose to leave Spain anytime soon. Fekir himself was a Lyon player that chose to move to Betis, in a surprising decision. And now, he has established himself as a top player in the team.

So, it goes to show that they have the ability to sign top players. And all that remains to be sorted is the structure of the deal. There have been talks of William Carvalho being used as a makeweight in the deal. With only one year remaining on his deal, Betis would be looking to move him on this summer and get his wages off of their books.

If Lyon accept the offer, then they could be getting a player plus cash deal for Houssem Aouar to leave. However, Cordon must be able to persuade him to snub the Premier League for that to happen.
